Cover reveal for Son of the Thunder Goddess
Epic fantasy novella coming March 2025
Hello everyone,
For those of you who are new to the mailing list, welcome! My name is Andrew LiVecchi. I’m an author of epic fantasy inspired by a lifelong obsession with ancient and medieval history.
In my last post, I announced the details of my upcoming debut novella, Son of the Thunder Goddess. It is the first in a planned series called The Lays of Athewain and will follow the adventures of the warrior Athewain as he traverses the deadly, treacherous lands of Logren in a setting heavily inspired by Celtic Britain.
EVEN GODS DIE.
The city of Bridunum is besieged.
Saorlach the demigod leads an army of thousands to its walls, eager to pillage and kill. Covered from head to toe in tattooed runes, he bears the blessing of the gods themselves. No weapon can pierce his skin.
One by one, Saorlach challenges the champions of Bridunum, taunting and killing them at will. Heroes fall. Morale weakens. Saorlach’s victory is imminent.
Only one man can stand against him.
Athewain, a lowly shepherd of Logren’s countryside, longs for a life of heroic adventure. When Saorlach’s warriors slaughter his village, he sets out on a quest for vengeance, assisted by an ancient, long-forgotten god known only as the Maker.
Now, Athewain must wield the power of this unknown deity to defeat his divinely-protected enemy and thwart his bloody dreams of conquest.
But there are enemies within Bridunum as well as without. And the gods, once angered, do not forgive.
If Athewain fails, his dream of justice dies with him. And all of Logren will fall to ruin.
Son of the Thunder Goddess is an epic fantasy novella inspired by the myth and history of Celtic, Iron-Age Britain. It features feuding gods, immersive worldbuilding, and epic, visceral battles.
Today, I am excited to be able to share more information with you.
First, the most exciting news: the cover!
Now, I recognize that I’m biased, but I think this cover is absolutely killer! It was designed and illustrated by my friend Lukas Irzl, a game designer and graphic artist from Austria. Believe it or not, this is Lukas’s first foray into book cover design, and I think you’ll agree with me that he did a fantastic job. For more of Lukas’s work, visit his portfolio or follow the development of his fantasy indie game, Pale Coins.
Secondly, Son of the Thunder Goddess now has an official release date: March 5, 2025. You can wishlist or preorder the ebook here. I will also be enrolling the novella on Kindle Unlimited so you’ll be able to read it for free if you are subscribed to that program.
Along with getting a finished cover, I have also completed my final round of edits with my copyeditor and proofreader. This means the novella is very, very close to being publish ready!
In the next update, I will share details about how you can get your hands on an ARC (advanced reader copy) and how you can help support my book launch by being a part of the official launch team.
In the meantime, let me know what you think of the cover and book description. I’d love to hear from you!
Thanks for reading,
Andrew LiVecchi
